Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre
"Dr. Jekyll, There's Nowhere To Hyde!"

April 16, 2010

Listen to the review here:

It has been several years since I was last at this Theatre which is situated conveniently right on the Yonge Subway line just north of the Davisville stop.  The best way to quickly describe this is Dinner Theatre but it's so much more.  Couples and groups have a wonderful time.  First you experience dinner which is standard fare ranging from marinated chicken to Bouillabaisse followed by deserts such as crème caramel and apple tart.  But of course you have come for the theatre portion which begins while you are dining.  Members of the cast circulate sitting down to chat with you about their character and hints on what is to happen.  The current show is “Dr. Jekyll, There’s Nowhere to Hyde” written by Brian Caws.  You're attending a conference of criminologists, where Dr. Henry Jekyll is about to make a presentation on his radical approach to investigating the 'Criminal Mind'. The discovery of a dead body forces him to put his theories to the test.  My guest for this show described what takes place as similar to the board game CLUE except that you have a live castThe action is fast paced with audience members participating and the dialogue is witty with lots of references to current events that provide a chuckle.  This is not Shakespeare or gourmet dining but a fun evening that all can enjoy.  I rate it 4 stars out of 5.  That’s “Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre” and their current production “Dr. Jekyll, There’s Nowhere to Hyde” at 2026 Yonge Street just north of Davisville –open on weekends.

Mysteriously Yours...
"It’s A Wonderful Death"

November 17, 2007

Mysteriously Yours… Mystery Theatre has a new production “It’s a Wonderful Death!” a take off on the classic Jimmy Stewart movie.  The format for the evening is that you meet the colourful characters while you are having dinner.  They drop by your table for a brief chat.  Following the main course the story begins – the plot thickens and someone dies.  Following intermission and dessert a detective leads the investigation and in the process the cast of characters plus many from the audience are questioned.  You get to participate and try to solve the case.  Producers Lili and Brian Caws have been doing this for 20 years and they continue to give you a fabulous evening of entertainment BUT another important element that makes this such a great evening is the food.  Current executive chef Therese De Grace serves up a menu to die for.  Mysterious Yours… Mystery Theatre is located just 2 blocks north of the Davisville subway station on Yonge Street.  I rate this show - 4 stars out of 5. Check out this great venue for fun and food at their website www.mysteriouslyyours.com.

Mysteriously Yours...
"Dead Air! A Musical Murder Mystery
"

June 19th, 2006

It’s been about 7 years that Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre has been delivering murder and mayhem to Torontonians along with gastronomic delights.  Now comes their first musical murder mystery set in a 1940’s radio studio.  The emphasis of past productions, and this one is no exception, is having fun along with a fabulous meal.  For their first outing as a musical Mysteriously Yours does a great job with catchy tunes and smart lyrics.  The cast is all in excellent voice with some great harmonies. The performers are headed up by veteran Jean Daigle who is featured as William Randolf Wurst the owner of WBN Radio and who dies. Daigle also plays the GumShoe who helps solve the murder.  We have an assorted cast of characters such as Orson Kane, Rory Rogers, Rose Bud, Jimmy, the Page and station manager Patty Wurst.  They all spend time with the audience before the show, at intermission and at the end.  The audience is involved in the plot and has an opportunity to finger the murderer.  Hats off to producers Lili and Brian Caws for another fun evening of entertainment and their first musical murder mystery; the show is seen Friday and Saturdays plus some Thursdays.  Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre is centrally located just 2 blocks north of the Davisville Subway station on Yonge Street.

Mysteriously Yours… Dinner Theatre:
"Murder! On the Limelight Express"

July 8, 2005

It’s been a year or so since I last visited “Mysteriously Yours…Dinner Theatre” so I’m pleased to report that this is still the best dinner and theatre experience in Toronto. You are thoroughly entertained with an excellent meal followed by a murder mystery in which you get involved, help with the clues and then try and solve the murder. This past weekend I experienced “Murder On The Limelight Express” a takeoff on Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express”. This is simply a lot of fun and you can’t help but get involved with all the actors in character dropping by your table to talk and make the case that he or she is a wonderful person and certainly not capable of murder. The chef at “Mysteriously Yours” continues to give you a very good meal. In the production I saw we even had the surprise of one of the guests interrupting the action as Hercule Perrier was about to reveal the murderer. This guest got down on bended [knee] and proposed to his girl friend. Simply put “Mysteriously Yours” is just a great evening of food, drink and entertainment. During the summer months the shows are only on Friday and Saturday with the murder mysteries in repertory. You have the choice of “CSI: Baker Street”; “God Father Knows Best!” Who Wants to be a Dead Millionaire?” and “Murder in Casablanca”. The theatre is in a great location just 2 blocks north of the Davisville subway station. That’s “Mysteriously Yours...Dinner Theatre"; the fun and mayhem continues.
The show rates 4 and a half stars.

Mysteriously Yours –
"GodFather Knows Best!
"

November 13, 2003

In the heart of Toronto on Yonge Street just north of the Davisville subway stop is Mysteriously Yours – a dinner Theatre that currently is presenting “Godfather Knows Best!” The show is a lot of fun and the food is just great. The dishes are usually selected to compliment the story. In this case it’s Italian. You get to participate in the story line and to try and guess who done-it. The shows are every Thursday thru Saturday evenings and there is a Wednesday matinee. It’s great to have such a theatre in the heart of Toronto close to the subway – [in] other words easy to get to. If you’re looking for a fun evening with great food that doesn’t break the pocket book “Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre ” is the ticket.
